On Eve of Guidelines Announcement, Disneyland Unions Urge Newsom to Open Theme Parks in “Moderate” Tier

In a letter sent to California Governor Gavin Newsom, 8 Disneyland unions joined forces to urge Newsom to allow theme parks to reopen in the “moderate” tier, going against draft guidelines that theme park operators said were too restrictive. In the draft, Newsom proposed a yellow “minimal” tier reopening plan, one that could take counties weeks or longer to enter. A “moderate” orange tier reopening would accelerate that timeline. Here’s a look at the tiers before we take a look at the letter. Orange County California, the county that Disneyland resides in, is currently in the red “substantial” tier and is a minimum of three weeks away from the “moderate” tier as of publish time.
