Disney continues to keep up the pace on the TRON Lightcycle Run canopy construction at Magic Kingdom. As you can see in the photos below, the canopy skeleton is nearly completely installed, with work now focusing on the grid portal entrance (that was sealed off) and the attraction entrance.

We’ll start our tour of the construction site from the top of Disney’s Contemporary Resort and an angle that provides a good overview of the work.

Zooming in more, we can clearly see the defined levels of the roller coaster launch (bottom) and guest walkway to the attraction entrance (2nd floor). The canopy will be an imposing, but beautiful feature when it is completed and illuminated.

Here’s an example of what it will look like from the main guest walkway, as seen in Shanghai Disneyland. Guests should have a similar perspective in the Magic Kingdom version of the attraction.

Here’s a look at Disney’s concept art for the canopy and attraction building, which sits next to Space Mountain.

The concept has changed a bit since the initial images were released above. Here’s an updated look at what Disney anticipates the finished product looking like, including multi-level walking paths and a tunnel for the Walt Disney World Railroad.

Back to the latest construction, we can see that crews appear to be removing some of the rust-colored supports and allowing the while canopy skeleton to begin to stand on its own.

Disney has not listed TRON Lightcycle Run as one of the projects that they are looking forward to experiencing in 2021, and with rumored construction delays, it’s possible that guests won’t be riding through the Grid until 2022.
