‘Theater of the Stars’ Serves as Overflow Dining Area with Stage Shows Suspended

Even with lower crowds the past week or two at Walt Disney World, Disney is still accommodating physical distancing throughout their operations. While visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios recently, we noticed that the Theater of the Stars was open – an oddity given the suspension of most stage shows around the theme parks.

As it turns out, Disney is utilizing the upper plaza as an overflow seating/dining area. The Sunset Ranch Market often fills up around lunchtime and Cast Members said that they open up the Theater of the Stars overflow dining area when crowds demand (and as staffing allows).

Last summer, the theater was used to host the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra members in a performance titled the Disney Society Orchestra. Disney later fired the members and the show was canceled.

Here’s a look around the area as utilized now.
