Disney has released some new details about the upcoming Disney MagicMobile feature within the My Disney Experience app. As we previously shared, Disney MagicMobile will allow guests to use their smartphone or Apple Watch to tap into the theme parks. This comes as Disney discontinues free MagicBands for resort guests.

We also previously reported that there was an unannounced MagicMobile feature being tested earlier this month at Disney’s Hollywood Studios – linking on-ride photos via the Bluetooth on your phone in your pocket. This has now been officially announced by Disney has a MagicMobile feature.

Disney also shared that guests will be able to enjoy something called “Express Mode” for their own ticket linked via MagicMobile to their My Disney Experience account. This all-important Express Mode will allow guests to simply tap their phone at a touchpoint and gain entry to the theme parks. There will be no need to unlock your phone when using your own ticket in Express Mode.

For Family and Friends tickets, guests will have to first access Apple Wallet and swipe through the various tickets to scan others into the theme parks. An extra step, but perfectly in-line with how the Apple Wallet works in other multi-ticket scenarios such as sporting events.

Disney has not announced a go-live date for Disney MagicMobile yet.
