The State of California has issued updated guidance for theme parks – including Disneyland. The new, more relaxed guidance means that Disneyland might be able to reopen on April 1st if Orange County is able to enter the RED tier of the Blueprint for a Safer Economy plan.
Currently, Orange County is in the PURPLE, most restricted tier. If they stay in this tier, they will not be able to open on April 1st. That said, if they are able to make it into the RED tier, new State of California guidance would allow them to open with restrictions. Here is the breakdown in the new guidance that goes into effect on April 1st:
PURPLE TIER
- Not allowed to open
RED TIER
- Disneyland can open with restrictions
- Maximum capacity set at 15%
- Indoor maximum capacity set at 15% with time restrictions
- NO indoor dining
- Weekly worker testing program
- IN-STATE VISITORS ONLY
- Online ticket purchases only
ORANGE TIER
- Disneyland can open with restrictions
- Maximum capacity set at 25%
- Indoor maximum capacity set at 25% with time restrictions
- Weekly worker testing programs
- IN-STATE VISITORS ONLY
YELLLOW TIER
- Disneyland can open with restrictions
- Maximum capacity set at 35%
- Indoor maximum capacity set at 25% with time restrictions
- Weekly worker testing programs
- IN-STATE VISITORS ONLY
Disneyland President Ken Potrock offered the following statement:
We are encouraged that theme parks now have a path toward reopening this spring, getting thousands of people back to work and greatly helping neighboring businesses and our entire community.
With responsible Disney safety protocols already implemented around the world, we can’t wait to welcome our guests back and look forward to sharing an opening date soon.

Hotels need to start accepting reservations with contact info. Vaccination has been going well for residents and must move forward with full speed ahead, keep doing it at mickey and Friends parking structure, it has high volume freeway ramps access. the Vaccine needs a day or so to develop an immune reaction, so might require a day before going into parks a Rest Day required at hotel would would work. adapt, improvise, Overcome. 😇😷
