Rise of the Resistance and Other Long Attractions May Not Be Permitted to Reopen Under California Guidelines

The State of California has issued updated guidance for theme park reopenings, and indoor rides must be limited to 15 minutes or less.

This puts a few rides at risk of not being able to reopen, including the still-new Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which clocks in at 15 minutes (or longer), according to now CEO Bob Chapek. Of course, it’s possible that the clock might reset when guests experience the outdoor portion of the attraction, which Disney might be able to claim makes the experience shorter than 15 minutes.

Other attractions that might be at risk of not being allowed to reopen include Pirates of the Caribbean, “it’s a small world”, and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.

Other portions of the guidance limit queuing to outdoor queues only, and not mixing parties in the same ride vehicles.

Disneyland has previously included Rise of the Resistance and Pirates of the Caribbean in a list of attractions that will “begin to open” when Disneyland Park reopens, but has not said what, if any, modifications might be made to the ride experience to comply with California guidelines.
