Disney has announced the groundbreaking of the first Storyliving by Disney Community – Cotino. Here’s the announcement by Heather Hunter, Public Relations Director for Disney Signature Experiences:

In an area that once felt the footsteps of Walt Disney himself, I am thrilled to announce that we gathered in Rancho Mirage, California, to celebrate work starting on the first Storyliving by Disney community. Our story is one of boundless excitement for this project and this is just the beginning. We shared that sales for Cotino, a Storyliving by Disney community, are expected to begin in early 2023 and the first homes are anticipated to be completed in early 2024. Additional locations in the U.S. are under exploration for future development.

Thomas Mazloum, president of Disney Signature Experiences, and Claire Bilby, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Signature Experiences Emerging Businesses, were joined by City of Rancho Mirage Mayor Charles Townsend and CEO of DMB Development Brent Herrington to celebrate this important first milestone. Executives and officials shared remarks about the new community before unveiling a storybook sand sculpture to mark the occasion.

It was the spirit of renewal and rejuvenation that led Walt and Lillian Disney to establish a retreat in Rancho Mirage. So fittingly, the brilliant mountain-ringed valley will be the first site for a Storyliving by Disney community.

Cotino will feature the attention to detail, unique amenities and special touches that are Disney hallmarks. When it begins to welcome residents in 2024, this vibrant community will welcome homeowners of all ages. At least one section will be expressly for residents 55+.

Storyliving by Disney master-planned communities are intended to inspire residents to foster new friendships, pursue their interests and write the next exciting chapter in their lives.
