Scathing New Report Draws Questions of Inclusion at Disney’s Tenaya Stone Spa

In a scathing report from Deanne Revel at Fodor’s, questions are swirling about the origins of a supposedly sacred rock and Disney’s representation of facts over the origins and research that went into the Tenaya Stone Spa at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at Disneyland.

The report, which has meticulous attention to detail and respect for Indigenous people, outlines either ignorance or even a possible felony when it comes to the origins of the so-called Tenaya Stone that stands at the center of the Tenaya Stone Spa experience.

The report comes at a time when Disney is already in the news over a performance in Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World that saw high-schoolers chanting “scalp ’em, Indians, scalp ’em” while marching down Main Street USA.

The fascinating report can be read in its entirety here:

Unfortunately, this new addition to the Disneyland Resort is another example of Disney missing the mark when it comes to inclusion, something that the company says is a key pillar of their organization.
