The “quick” construction pace continues at the TRON Lightcycle Run construction site as Disney prepares to open the attraction either later this year or early next year. We say “quick” because we’re now more than four years since land clearing began for the roller coaster. That said, quite a bit of progress has been made in recent weeks. We’ll take a look at that progress in another article today, but for now we wanted to take a look at the work to bring The Walt Disney World Railroad back.
As you can see in our photos below, Disney has recently added lightning and what appears to be some ventilation to the tunnel that will allow the train to run beneath the TRON Lightcycle Run attraction and related walkways. Here’s a look!
In this first wide photo, we can see the tunnel in the middle right of the photo and work taking place to connect the tunnel to the nearby existing railroad track.

A closer look at the tunnel itself reveals the work taking place inside the tunnel.

Windows are also part of the design.

A closer look at the lights and ventilation.

Disney has not announced a return date for the Walt Disney World Railroad.
