Disney CEO Bob Chapek will join the Wall Street Journal Editor-in-Chief Matt Murray at WSJ Tech Live to discuss the company’s investments in streaming, plans for the metaverse, corporate leadership, and growing innovation at Disney’s theme parks. The chat will take place around 2:25pm ET on October 26th and will be live-streamed by the Wall Street Journal on its YouTube channel below.
Chapek is coming off an executive summit at the Walt Disney World Resort where executives from across The Walt Disney Company met to discuss the future of the company and various projects.
For the theme parks, there are a host of projects slated to be completed between now and the end of 2024 (see timeline), but there were also some Blue Sky projects announced by Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro that would presumably take the theme parks into the 2030s with construction and expansion.
More immediately, and likely top of mind for Chapek, is the Disney100 celebrations that will kick off at the Disneyland Resort on January 27, 2023. So far, details on how Disney World might join the celebration are pretty light, but we do know that Harmonious will be replaced at EPCOT later in 2023 and that Disney Enchantment will end its run around the end of the 50th Anniversary next Spring.
