Iger: Rumors of Disney Being Sold to Apple Are “Not Rooted in Fact”, “Pure Speculation”

In an employee town hall yesterday, Disney CEO Bob Iger covered a variety of topics about the future of The Walt Disney Company. One of the questions posed to Iger was the rumor that Disney will be sold to Apple. The reports seemed farfetched at the outset, which is why we didn’t report on them, but Iger was unequivocal in his statement that he was not interested in selling Disney to Apple. Here’s the statement:

“We never comment about acquisitions or divestitures or mergers or whatever. You can quickly get into a lot of trouble there, and I don’t want to leave this job and end up in jail, but what you’ve read about in that regard is just pure speculation. It’s not rooted in any fact whatsoever”.

We’ll have more from the Iger town hall a little bit later today.
