Former Disney CEO Bob Iger will publish a new book, “One Last Time: Managing Crisis and Building Resilience at Disney,” on March 2nd, 2027. Random House announced the release today, calling it the inside story of Iger’s second stint as CEO from 2022 to 2026. Iger wrote the book with Dan Schwerin, and it follows his 2019 bestseller “The Ride of a Lifetime.”

Bob Iger’s “One Last Time” Book Release Date & Details

IN THIS ARTICLE:

  • Random House will publish “One Last Time” on March 2nd, 2027, in hardcover, ebook, and audiobook.
  • The book covers Iger’s second stint as Disney CEO, from 2022 to 2026.
  • It follows two other books about the same era of Disney leadership.

Bob Iger is adding one more chapter to his Disney story. “The Ride of a Lifetime” covered his first 15 years as CEO. His new book, “One Last Time: Managing Crisis and Building Resilience at Disney,” centers on what came after he returned to lead Disney in November 2022. That second stint ended this year with the handoff to Josh D’Amaro, so fans now get Iger’s own account of the era.

What Random House Says “One Last Time” Covers

Random House describes the book as a candid look at Iger’s effort to reconnect Disney with its core values while building a lasting foundation. According to the publisher, Iger came back to a company dealing with one crisis after another. That steady pressure pushed him to learn new lessons about leadership and resilience.

The announcement names several of the biggest challenges from those years:

  • Two hostile proxy battles
  • The 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes
  • The rise of AI
  • ABC’s temporary suspension of Jimmy Kimmel

Random House frames the book around practical leadership questions. Those include how to make hard calls with imperfect information and how to own up to mistakes.

“This is a comeback story,” Iger says of the book. He adds that it looks at what Disney needed to return to its core values, along with what that journey taught him about leading through change.

This is a comeback story. Itโ€™s about what Disney needed to find its way back to its core values and what that journey taught me about leading in a time of unprecedented challenge and change.

Random House’s description doesn’t mention the theme parks business. Still, Iger’s second stint included the plan to “turbocharge” Disney Experiences with roughly $60 billion in new investment. We looked at what that meant for the parks as D’Amaro prepared to take over as CEO. Park fans may find some of that story in the book, though Random House hasn’t said how much of it focuses on the parks.

“One Last Time” Arrives After Iger Retires From Disney

Iger handed the CEO role to D’Amaro at Disney’s Annual Meeting on March 18th, 2026. He remains a Senior Advisor and board member until his retirement from the company on December 31st, 2026. That puts “One Last Time” on shelves about two months after he formally leaves Disney.

Random House will release the book as a hardcover and an ebook on the same day. Penguin Random House Audio will release an audiobook edition at the same time, and Iger reads it himself. The announcement didn’t include a price or page count.

Iger’s book also follows two others about the same years. Bob Chapek’s memoir “Behind the Castle Walls” came out in September, and in it Chapek blames Iger for his 2022 firing. An unauthorized biography from longtime Wall Street Journal reporter Robbie Whelan, “The House of Mouse,” hits bookshelves December 1st. “One Last Time” will be the only one of the three told from Iger’s point of view.
