Disney World Confirms Mandatory Locker System for TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom

Disney World has confirmed that “all loose articles must be stored in the lockers or left with a non-rider” in order to ride TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom. This is the first implementation of a locker system for a Walt Disney World roller coaster. Disney typically allows guests to store items at their feet or in a pouch on the roller coaster itself.

There is an optional locker system at Kali River Rapids for guests to store items that they wish to keep dry, but TRON Lightcycle Run will be the first implementation of being required to store loose items in a locker at Walt Disney World. Many roller coasters and simulators at Walt Disney World have a loose item pocket in the vehicle itself, but the TRON Lightcycle Run ride vehicle has not been designed to allow for that. The Shanghai version of the ride does have a small valuables storage compartment within the vehicle that might hold a phone or sunglasses, but nothing large. In Shanghai Disneyland, there is a cart system that allows guests to keep large items through the queue, placing them in the cart just before loading into the ride. The cart is then rolled to the unload area by a Cast Member. It’s likely that this will not be in use at Walt Disney World due to the locker system.

Details about the locker system haven’t been released yet, but we anticipate that Disney will announce more as we get closer to the grand opening of the attraction this Spring. It’s likely that lockers will be free for the amount of time that you are on the ride.
