Barrel Bridge Removed from Tom Sawyer Island at Magic Kingdom

While it’s still here, we decided to take a walk around Tom Sawyer Island at Magic Kingdom today. The peaceful island is a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the busiest theme park in the world, but with “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain” plans in the future, Tom Sawyer Island might not be around forever.

While walking around the island, we noticed that the barrel bridge was removed. When we asked Cast Members about it, they weren’t sure why it was removed. It’s possible that there is simply another refurbishment required. The last refurbishment of the barrel bridge that we documented was in early 2021 after the Rivers of America had been drained.

Here’s a look around the area from our visit to Magic Kingdom today.
