Portion of Island Mercantile Shop Closed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

While visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom today, we noticed that a portion of the island Mercantile shop was closed off to guests. About 1/3rd of the shop was closed off to guests, but the majority of the shop remained open and available.

Signs at two of the doors on the southern end of the shop advise guests that the shop is still open and to continue on to find the entrance.

Inside, simple drapes separate the open section of the shop from the closed section. Whatever work is taking place, it will likely be relatively simple if no construction walls appear. We’ve seen portions of gift shops close in the past, but there have typically been construction walls for any work that would be considered extensive.

Cast Members were not sure what work was taking place or how long a portion of the shop would be closed for.
