Island Registers Removed from Island Mercantile During Refurbishment at Animal Kingdom

    As part of the ongoing refurbishment at the Island Mercantile shop at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the island registers are being removed to open up the space a bit more.

    We’ll start with a look at the recently unveiled section with an island register removed and a new register constructed along a wall.

    In the middle section of the store, the island register has been completely removed to open up the space.

    Here’s a look back at the island register from July before it was removed. We call them island registers because they just sat out in the middle of the room, kind of like an island in the ocean.

    In the section of the store closest to Pandora – The World of Avatar, the beaver-themed island register has been removed and the area is behind walls.
