Disney has quietly updated concept art for its upcoming Cotinio Storyliving Community planned to be built in California’s scenic Coachella Valley. In a September press release, Disney Signature Experiences announced the planned residential plans for Cotino, which included a dog park called “Laughing Place Ranch”. Disney released the following concept art and description:
Residents of all ages and their four-legged friends can gather at Laughing Place Ranch designed to celebrate Walt’s love for horses with an equestrian-themed dog park featuring separate play areas for small and large pets.
Now, Disney has updated the concept art and press release to remove the Splash Mountain/Song of the South reference:

The naming of the dog park caused immediate backlash on social media. From the outside looking in, the “Laughing Place Ranch” naming of an equestrian-themed dog park was a confusing choice by Disney. That said, the Company still plays the “Laughing Place” melody at the Magic Kingdom park entrance many months after closing the Splash Mountain attraction and after they removed the “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” melody from the park entrance loop.
