Guests looking to build their own (cheap) lightsaber can once again roll up their sleeves and mix and match parts to create a custom lightsaber at Tatooine Traders in Hollywood Studios. While the actual experience has been open for years, it never fully recovered from COVID-era protocols that prevented guests from having a hands-on experience.
When it returned during the COVID-era phased reopening, Cast Members would handle the parts instead of allowing guests to partake in the plastic buffet.
That changed recently when Build-A-Lightsaber went back to a hands-on experience. We visited Hollywood Studios recently and found that the experience was back to its pre-COVID state. Here’s a look around!
Guests can simply walk up to the plastic buffet of parts and start building their own custom lightsaber. There are still plenty of Cast Members around to help guests who may need it at any point during the self-guided process.
Keep in mind that the Build-Your-Own-Lightsaber in Tatooine Traders (the Star Tours gift shop) is very, very different in both price and immersive experience when compared to the Savi’s Workshop build-a-lightsaber experience in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Current pricing for the experience is $29.99 for a single-blade lightsaber and $44.99 for a double-blade lightsaber.
You start by choosing the emitter style you want, followed by a blade color.
From there, you’ll choose a hilt and then customize the hilt.
You’ll then complete the lightsaber by choosing an end cap or adapter.
