The clock is ticking and the race is on to complete dozens of new cabins for the July 1st debut of an all-new Disney Vacation Club offering at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. While there will be more than 350 cabins when construction is complete, the cabins will be built and opened in phases over the next year or so.
While visiting Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort recently, we noticed that dozens of cabins were either built or in various stages of construction at the quaint resort. There were a couple of cabins near Pioneer Hall that were mostly built, and then dozens of cabins in the 2500 loop that were in various stages of construction. Here’s a look around!
First, here are a few pieces of concept art to give you an idea of what to expect from the finished product.
Ok, back to the woods of Fort Wilderness, and a look at the cabins installed near the Pioneer Hall area.
We can see how the new cabins are anchored to the ground – an upgrade from the previous cabins.
These particular cabins were installed in a loop that didn’t have cabins in the past.
Making our way over to the 2500 loop, we can see a flurry of activity as crews work on dozens of cabins at various stages of construction. We’ll start with the least built-out cabin, and try to work our way through the stages of construction that were visible. It’s really an impressive operation that appears to be efficient and offers as little impact on the surrounding area as possible. Of course, it’s noisy, but the impact to the trees and foliage appears relatively minimal for the scale of the project.
