Walt Disney World has finally restored the in-ground lighting effects in EPCOT’s World Celebration Gardens after nearly a year of struggles. While visiting EPCOT last night, we noticed that the rings were finally all completely illuminated, something that wasn’t even working during the first week that the lights debuted last year. Walt Disney World still has a little bit of work to do before we can declare that the lights are fully working again though, with some of the Spaceship Earth Points of Light shows not yet fully programmed with the in-ground lights. That said, it’s wonderful to see Disney actually fix the lights themselves as we await programming. Here’s a closer look!
EPCOT In-Ground Lighting Restored
As you can see in the photos below, the rings around the World Celebration Gardens planter are all working again! This marks the first time that they’ve been fully working this year, and hopefully signals that Walt Disney World will keep them operable going forward.
When we visited last night, only one of the Spaceship Earth Points of Light shows was synchronized with the in-ground lighting. The in-ground lighting remained a solid color or white during the majority of the shows, signaling that there is still some programming work to be done to restore the lights to their full former glory. That said, we’re close!

I have always loved EPCOT’s in ground lighting. It has always been the detail that truly makes EPCOT feel magical.
