The Hall of Presidents Currently Scheduled to Remain Open Past Inauguration Day (But That Will Change)

Walt Disney World is quickly approaching a change to the Hall of Presidents, but the theme park giant is remaining quiet about its plans for the next iteration of the attraction. Prior to the Presidential election, we penned an article speculating about the future of the attraction. In that article, we said that change is coming to the attraction, but speculation on what kind of change remains as Disney World stays silent. As of right now, the attraction is currently scheduled to remain open past inauguration day, but that will likely change.

Hall of Presidents Will Change, but No Refurbishment Announced

Regardless of the outcome of the last election, which President-elect Trump won, the Hall of Presidents was forced to change. Once President Biden dropped out of the race, change was inevitable. However, we thought that the direction of that change was not inevitable. In short, if VP Kamala Harris would’ve won, we think that Disney would’ve been forced to create the first-ever female Audio-Animatronic President addition to the historic attraction. That said, we also thought that a Trump election would allow Disney to pivot for the attraction if they wanted to. Trump has already been a part of the Hall of Presidents, and the attraction has become more polarizing as has politics in America.

In our early November article, we speculated that The Muppets could have a presence in the next version of this attraction. While it has been apparent to theme park observers that MuppetVision 3D would be closed to make way for Monsters Inc. Land (and it has since been confirmed), what was not known at the time of our pre-election speculation was that The Muppets would land at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.

With The Muppets heading to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, we think that it’s less likely that they also have a presence at the Hall of Presidents. It’s more likely, at this point, that Walt Disney World simply brings the President Trump Audio-Animatronic back to the center of the stage and reuses the audio recording from his previous term.

As of right now, the Hall of Presidents attraction is scheduled to remain open into February, but we think that will change. There probably aren’t a lot of you out there reading this right now planning a visit to Magic Kingdom specifically for the Hall of Presidents, but if you were, I would plan on the attraction being closed starting January 20, 2025 for a refurbishment.

The next question is: when will the Hall of Presidents reopen? If Walt Disney World opts for the reuse of the current President Trump figure and audio recording, the closure could be relatively brief – weeks instead of months. As of right now, we expect that the Hall of Presidents will be closed starting January 20, 2025 and that it will reopen in the Spring or early Summer 2025.

Walt Disney World has not responded for a request for comment about the future of the Hall of Presidents attraction or planned changes.
