Ahead of limited previews set to start this week, local news station WESH 2 has spotted some dragon training for the How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk land within Universal Epic Universe. The land, or world, as Universal calls the themed sections of Epic Universe, will feature four attractions, a show, a handful of dining locations, and multiple entertainment offerings.
Universal has broken out the entertainment offerings into the Untrainable dragon show, which will take place within a proper theater, meet and greets in set areas, and roaming characters. It’s the roaming characters that are perhaps the most interesting given the new video shared by WESH 2.

As you can see in the video above, a dragon, Dart, can be seen in a backstage area, as a Team Member interacts with it. It’s unclear if Dart will be roaming the streets of the Isle of Berk or if she’ll be part of The Untrainable Dragon show.
Dart appears to be autonomous, and not a puppet. Team Members can be seen in a tent nearby, perhaps controlling her movement as she progresses through training. The Team Member next to her appears to be part of the entertainment team, perhaps training to interact with Dart in the land or show.
Universal has announced roaming dragons for the land, both on the ground and in the air! As seen in the concept art below, guests will be able to interact with Astrid and Stormfly, but it’s possible that Dart could be thrown into the mix as well!
Whatever Dart’s role will be, her presence will be impressive as the only free-roaming non-human character in the major Central Florida theme parks. Disney had previously promised roaming droids for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge but was unable to deliver on that promise at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. A free-roaming droid was part of the shuttered Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience, but never made it into the theme park proper.
