Superstition Bridge Removed from Tom Sawyer Island Ahead of Demolition at Magic Kingdom

|

Superstition Bridge, the bridge that connected the majority of Tom Sawyer Island to a second northern island with Fort Langhorn on it, has been removed at Magic Kingdom. We spotted the bridge’s removal during our visit to Magic Kingdom on Tuesday, but it’s unknown how long it has been missing. Construction walls have blocked most of the views of the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island since late September. Here’s what we could see during our visit to Magic Kingdom earlier this week!

Before we take a look at the removal of the bridge, here’s a look back at the bridge from back when Tom Sawyer Island was open for exploring, and the Liberty Square Riverboat was making laps around the Rivers of America.

Here’s a look at the bridge as the Rivers of America was being drained. This is roughly the same angle that we’ll use to see that the bridge was removed recently.

And here’s a look at the same area from our visit to Magic Kingdom earlier this week. As you can see, the bridge has been removed from between the two islands. Instead, there is some caution tape and orange cones to indicate that the area is unsafe.

Other landmarks on Tom Sawyer Island remain standing for now. We’d be surprised if Disney didn’t start some demolition this year, but we expect that they’ll kick construction into high gear in 2026 as they begin the multi-year build-out of the Cars-themed area called Piston Peak National Park, and then Villains Land after that.
