Rivers of America Fully Blocked From View by Construction Walls at Magic Kingdom

|

Good morning from Magic Kingdom, where the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island are now fully blocked from view thanks to the installation of new construction walls. More than a month ago, we brought you the news that early work had begun to prepare the area along Frontierland’s boardwalk for the installation of construction walls. Since then, scaffolding has been erected along the concrete riverbed as Disney prepared to block views of the work. Now, the scaffolding has been completely installed, and a scrim fully blocks views of the work. Let’s take a look.

Views of Rivers of America Fully Blocked at Magic Kingdom

As you can see in the photos below, a brown scrim has been secured to the existing scaffolding to block views of the Rivers of America. These scrims connect to existing construction walls near Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and near the Liberty Tree Tavern area in Liberty Square. My dream of there being some sort of super wide mural showing what’s to come hasn’t been realized (yet), but that kind of reckless spending to enhance the area is why I’m not in charge. Here’s a look around!

We’ll walk from the Liberty Square area toward Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. With the area fully blocked from view, sounds of construction are underway now that Disney doesn’t have to worry about being in guest view.

As to the why of the construction walls, it’s to block the views of the demolition of Tom Sawyer Island from guests. As a reminder, Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America are being demolished for the largest expansion in Magic Kingdom history. One phase of this expansion is for the creation of Piston Peak National Park – a Cars-themed area that will act as an extension of Frontierland. The second phase of the expansion is for an all-new Villains land.
