Second-Floor Windows Frosted at Columbia Harbour House to Prevent Views of Frontierland Construction

|

While collecting photos for our recent update on the tree clearing on Tom Sawyer Island, we made our way up to the second floor of Columbia Harbour House to get an elevated view of the work. Unfortunately for our curiosity, Walt Disney World has frosted the windows that overlook a portion of the construction site. Here’s a look at the recent changes, along with good news for fans of watching Disney construction.

Columbia Harbour House Windows Frosted to Prevent Views of Frontierland Construction

First, here’s a look at some of the views we enjoyed from Columbia Harbour House prior to the windows being blocked.

Crane and demolition debris at a construction site near residential homes, indicating ongoing building work.
Excavation site with construction debris and partially demolished concrete structure at Disney World, surrounded by greenery and construction equipment, indicating ongoing theme park developments.

And here’s a look at the frosted windows. It’s an interesting move from Disney, especially given that we’ll soon have wonderful views of the construction site, but more on that in a bit.

While the frosted windows will make photos of construction difficult over the next few months, we should have some excellent views of construction for the next few years once Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopens in 2026. Multiple spots within the attraction and queue should offer some great peeks into the construction site as Disney builds Piston Peak National Park and an all-new Villains Land.

Until then, we’ll have to rely on the wonderful aerial photos provided by Bioreconstruct, showing the scope of the project. For more on what to expect from the next phases of the project, check out our article below detailing a recent permit filed for the next phase of work.
