While visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we noticed that work was underway at a former merchandise location for the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. While the area hasn’t been utilized to sell merchandise in quite some time, it was recently used as an outdoor vending area. Now, work is underway.
Construction Underway Near Indiana Jones Stunt Show
We’ll start with a look at the area when it was empty during the 2021 theme park reopening phase. Years ago, there was a truck located here where Indiana Jones-themed merchandise could be purchased as you exited the popular stunt show. Since then, the shaded area has been popular with outdoor vending carts to sell water, soda, and snacks.
During our recent visit, we noticed that all of the overhead netting had been removed, the tip board wait time sign nearby had its screen removed, and rolling construction “wall” planters had arrived.
While the easy explanation would be that the netting and theming had been removed due to ongoing horticulture management following a deep freeze earlier this year, it wouldn’t really explain why the tip board wait time screen was removed. Perhaps it was damaged during the work.
The nearby Backlot Express continues to operate normally, as does the Indiana Jones Stunt Show. The only ongoing change at the Indiana Jones Stunt Show is the removal of the 400lb boulder as Disney’s safety team completes a review of what caused the bolder to jump the tracks and bounce toward audience members. A Cast Member of the Indiana Jones Stunt Show jumped in front of the boulder to prevent it from likely hitting guests in the front few rows of the show.
