BREAKING: Boulder Removed from Indiana Jones Stunt Show Following Incident Resulting in Cast Member Injury

|

Good morning from Disney’s Hollywood Studios where the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular has been modified following an incident resulting in a Cast Member injury. As we previously reported, a Cast Member was injured when saving guests from a 400lb runaway boulder. Here’s a brief recap of the incident, followed by a video of the modified performance.

Boulder Removed from Indiana Jones Stunt Show

Yesterday, a Cast Member was injured while saving guests from a 400lb runaway prop boulder. The boulder jumped the tracks, somehow, and started bouncing towards guests, putting them in direct danger. A Cast Member immediately sprang into action, throwing himself against the boulder to redirect it away from guests.

The actions of the Cast Member saved guests from likely injury, but resulted in the Cast Member being injured. A video posted to social media appeared to show the Cast Member bleeding from the top of his head. Walt Disney World has released the following statement about the incident:

We’re focused on supporting our cast member, who is recovering. Safety is at the heart of what we do, and that element of the show will be modified as our safety team completes a review of what happened.

Now, the show has been modified to remove the boulder from the iconic scene. We made it out to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this morning to film the change. Here’s a look at the opening sequence with the boulder section cut. Instead of a boulder, the Indiana Jones stunt person simply does a flip, and the scene ends.

The show will continue to operate without the boulder until the safety team completes a review of what caused the incident.
