Indiana Jones Stunt Show Permit Filed, Unrelated to Boulder Incident

Walt Disney World has filed a Notice of Commencement permit for general construction at the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the named contractor is Coastal Steel. Coastal Steel is a longtime Disney contractor known for heavy-duty structural work. We have confirmed the permit is unrelated to the December 2025 boulder incident, despite some reports. Here’s the latest.

Steel Permit Filed at Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular

  • What the new permit at the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular covers
  • What Coastal Steel’s track record could mean for the theater
  • Why the permit is unrelated to the December 2025 boulder incident

The new Notice of Commencement lists 225 Cypress Dr as the venue of the work. It’s an address that resolves to the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular building. Walt Disney World Resort is the owner, and Facility Asset Management filed the paperwork. Coastal Steel Inc. is the contractor. The notice expires early, listing October 5th, 2027 as the intended expiration date.

That address matches the signage permit Walt Disney Imagineering filed on June 10th, which we covered alongside the tree removal at the Project Fedora site. Project Fedora sits next door at 253 Cypress Dr. It remains unclear whether any of these filings are related to each other. This notice comes from Facility Asset Management, the same group that filed both Project Fedora permits on May 15th.

Coastal Steel Brings Heavy-Duty Experience to the Theater

Coastal Steel has worked on TRON Lightcycle Run, Expedition Everest, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and the Chinese Theater at Hollywood Studios, as we noted when the contractor appeared on a Test Track permit. The list leans toward large-scale structural projects. That makes the name worth watching on any Walt Disney World filing.

Structural work on the theater is possible. The notice lists the scope only as general construction, so it does not say what Coastal Steel will build, repair, or modify. Facility Asset Management filed it, not Walt Disney Imagineering, which suggests more routine work instead of a new creative element.

Upkeep on a theater that has hosted the show since 1989 would be good news for fans of a Hollywood Studios classic. This is especially true as change creeps up on the Echo Lake theater. While Hollywood Studios has received quite the laundry list of changes over the past decade, Echo Lake has remained untouched.

The Permit Has No Connection to the Boulder Incident

Some reports have tied the work to the December 30th, 2025 incident where a 400lb prop boulder left its track. Cast Member Robert Herrick stepped in front of it to shield guests in the first rows. We have confirmed the permit is unrelated.

Herrick is back on stage after nearly five months of recovery. Disney modified the opening scene the morning after the incident, and the stunt performer now does a flip in place of the boulder. That change remains in place to this day, and there is no word when, or if, the boulder will return.
