Walt Disney World has set a reopening date for Vacation Fun at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Mickey Shorts Theater has been closed since August 9th for Annual Passholder magnet pickup. Newly published operating hours on the Walt Disney World website show the theater welcoming guests back on September 27th. Here’s the latest.

The Mickey Shorts Theater’s page on the Walt Disney World website now lists operating hours of 9:00am to 8:00pm for September 27th. That’s a change from the “no times available” status the page has for the day before. The webpage still displays the original closure notice too. That notice states the show “will be temporarily closed August 9, and is planned to reopen later this year,” alongside the newly listed hours.
This reopening comes after a roughly seven-week closure. Disney closed the theater on August 9th without giving a reason at the time. The Disney World website only noted that Vacation Fun would reopen later in the year. Two days later, the reason for the closure became clear. The theater and post-show room began serving as the pickup location for a new Kermit the Frog Annual Passholder magnet. That giveaway is part of a trio of Muppets-themed Passholder exclusives running through September 24th, a few days ahead of the September 27th reopening.
Vacation Fun debuted at the Mickey Shorts Theater in March 2020. It blends new animation with clips from classic Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts, including Panda-monium, Potatoland, and Yodelburg. The post-show area typically doubles as a photo op space themed to those shorts. During the passholder pickup window, Disney swapped that space for merchandise sales. Guests heading to Hollywood Studios starting September 27th should be able to catch the show and photo ops again if the newly listed hours hold.
