Disney World Sets Reopening Date for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Following Refurbishment

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has a reopening date. Walt Disney World’s refurbishment calendar lists the Magic Kingdom attraction returning Friday, December 18th, one week before Christmas Day. The ride closes November 2nd, so the refurbishment lasts about six and a half weeks. That timing brings it back in time for the holiday season, though it stays closed through Thanksgiving on November 26th. Here’s the latest.

Magic Kingdom guests now have a (pretty) firm date to plan around for the reopening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Walt Disney World’s refurbishment calendar shows the attraction reopening December 18th, which ends the first-ever refurbishment since the ride opened in Frontierland on June 28th, 2024. Tiana’s Bayou General, the attraction’s exit gift shop, will close alongside the ride, while Critter Co-Op stays open.

A December 18th Return Ahead of Christmas Week

Guests visiting December 18th or later can plan on riding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, including during Christmas week. While dates are always subject to change, as of right now, the ride will be open on December 18th.

Multi-week refurbishments like this one typically cover routine maintenance. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has welcomed guests for more than two years without an extended closure, so the downtime should leave it in good shape for the busy weeks ahead.

The attraction not only requires refurbishment as a water flume ride, but Audio-Animatronics and other effects on the ride have struggled since it opened. Hopefully this closure gives crews the time they need to refresh the attraction.

Planning Around the Closure

Frontierland has other attractions for guests to visit during the closure. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopened in May after its own lengthy refurbishment, which gives guests another headliner to build a visit around.

Frontierland also keeps evolving around the ride. Construction on Piston Peak National Park continues in the former Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island footprint, and Disney has said the project includes a new waterway that will run past Tiana’s Bayou Adventure toward the Frontierland boardwalk. In short, there’s a lot of change on the horizon for this corner of Magic Kingdom, including much-needed refurbishment.
