Walt Disney World’s operational calendar shows Tiana’s Bayou Adventure closing at Magic Kingdom starting Monday, November 2nd. In addition, Tiana’s Bayou General will close alongside the attraction. The attraction is closing for routine refurbishment and is expected to reopen in December 2026. Here’s the latest.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened at Magic Kingdom on June 28, 2024, replacing Splash Mountain in Frontierland. The attraction has been operating since then with no proper, extended refurbishment. That changes soon. The operational calendar on the Walt Disney World website now lists the attraction as closed beginning November 2nd. That calendar also lists Tiana’s Bayou General, the attraction’s exit gift shop, as having the same closure date.

Multi-week closures like this one are typically used for refurbishment work, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure could use some help. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has not had an extended closure since it opened in 2024. The attraction has dealt with reliability issues since opening. We have documented several stretches of unusually high downtime and early closures over the past two years, including a round of shortened hours during a cold snap earlier this year.
Interesting Timing
What’s interesting about this refurbishment is the timing. Typically, Disney waits for much colder months and much lower crowds to begin a refurbishment on water rides. Usually, that means a January or February refurbishment timeframe. It’s possible that this early November timeframe is an acceleration of the normal cadence due to the prevalence of ongoing Audio-Animatronic issues.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is currently expected to reopen sometime in December 2026. That said, we hope that it’s open in time for the busy Thanksgiving week and into the holiday season. If you’re visiting during the closure timeframe, I would not plan on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure reopening until sometime in December.
Frontierland’s Ongoing Changes
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure sits within a section of Magic Kingdom that has seen a lot of change recently. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopened in May following a lengthy refurbishment. Construction on Piston Peak National Park continues just east of the ride, in the footprint of the former Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. That project includes a new waterway that Disney has said will run past Tiana’s Bayou Adventure toward the Frontierland boardwalk.
