Disney World Issues Rain Checks Following Soggy Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Walt Disney World has automatically converted last night’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tickets into 1-day Park Hopper tickets. Weather affected the evening at Magic Kingdom, and Disney took the proactive step of issuing recovery options to guests in attendance. The new tickets work at any Walt Disney World theme park for one year from the original ticket date, but guests will need theme park reservations to use them.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Tickets Converted to Park Hopper Tickets Following Rain Out

  • What Disney says guests receive in place of their event ticket
  • The terms and reservation requirements for the converted tickets
  • How the conversion compares with past weather-impacted party nights

Thursday, October 8th was a soggy night at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. We’ve had an extra rainy period in Central Florida the past few days, and last night’s Not-So-Scary event was impacted. Disney followed up with a message to ticket holders that proactively issued a 1-day ticket with Park Hopping privileges. Here’s a look at what Disney did, followed by our experience with rainy nights at special events.

What Disney Says Guests Receive

Disney describes the new ticket as a “1-day ticket with Park Hopper option to any Walt Disney World theme park, valid for one year from the date of your original event ticket.” That gives guests a full day at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and/or Disney’s Animal Kingdom, with the option to visit more than one park that day. The message opens with an apology, and Disney says, “We apologize for the inconvenience this evening.”

Disney lists a few terms for the converted ticket:

  • Valid for one year from the date of the original event ticket
  • Theme park reservations are required
  • Tickets and options are nontransferable and nonrefundable
  • The message itself is not valid for admission to any theme park

For guests at last night’s party, one year from the original ticket date points to October 8th, 2027. Because Disney requires theme park reservations, guests will want to book a park before the visit.

How This Compares to Earlier Weather-Impacted Party Nights

After attending the first party of 2022 on August 12th, we shared the rain check options Disney offered when weather disrupted the evening. Those included a rain check for another party date, a single-day ticket, or, in the rarest cases, a refund. At the time, guests who felt weather had significantly affected their night headed to Guest Relations to discuss those options.

Disney has handled full cancellations differently. Ahead of Hurricane Helene, Disney canceled the September 26th, 2024 party and said it would refund guest tickets.

Last night’s conversion to a 1-day ticket gives guests more park time to look forward to, and the one-year window leaves plenty of room to pick a day that fits the rest of their current vacation, or even their next trip.

We’re happy to see Disney take a proactive stance on recovery here, especially given the long lines that were likely to form at Guest Relations should this have been issued on a case-by-case basis.

If you’re ever attending a special event that is significantly impacted by weather (read: multiple show cancellations, parade cancellation, fireworks cancellation, etc.), we recommend that you have a kind chat with Guest Relations. In our experience, they are more than understanding when the weather has obviously impacted the event.
