WHAT IS MICKEY’S NOT-SO-SCARY HALLOWEEN PARTY?

We’ll start with some basics. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) is a separately ticketed event held at Magic Kingdom throughout the Halloween season. It is not included with a standard park ticket or Annual Pass. Every guest attending the party must purchase a dedicated ticket to enjoy the party.

The party features a lineup of exclusive entertainment, trick-or-treat stops throughout the park, rare character meet-and-greets, Halloween-themed food and beverages, and event-exclusive merchandise. None of this entertainment, including the parade and stage show, is available to regular daytime park guests. The only way to experience it is with a party ticket.

The party runs from 7:00pm to midnight, but party ticket holders can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00pm, giving you a three-hour head start on the evening.

2026 MICKEY’S NOT-SO-SCARY HALLOWEEN PARTY DATES

The 2026 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs from August 7 through October 31, 2026, on select nights only. The party is not held every evening, so double-check the calendar before locking in your vacation dates.

Important: On party nights, Magic Kingdom closes to regular daytime guests at 6:00pm. If you are visiting the park during the day without a party ticket, plan accordingly.

WHAT’S NEW AT MNSSHP IN 2026?

The headlining new addition to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2026 is a brand-new Tomorrowland experience: A Masquerade with Stitch.

As we previously reported, Stitch, Lilo, and Angel are hosting an ever-changing masquerade at Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland. The concept is playfully unpredictable: after getting his paws on Lilo’s Costume Trunk, every accessory Stitch tries on sparks a new theme swap, keeping the party fresh throughout the evening.

Beyond the new Stitch show, Disney has also teased that guests may encounter new and returning Disney villains appearing in the streets of Magic Kingdom, continuing the “surprise and delight” villain presence that debuted in recent years. Full character meet-and-greet details are expected to be announced closer to the event’s August start date, so check back with BlogMickey.com for the latest updates.

It’s not always the most fun thing to acknowledge, but we’re in a “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mode with Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. In fact, that’s the case for both Magic Kingdom seasonal events, the other being Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

We’re in the very unique position of being fortunate enough to attend these special upcharge events every year. Over the past few years, the events have made some iterative changes (at best) and become stale at worst. In fact, in our 2024 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party preview article, we asked: “When Does Tradition Become Stale?

Again, I want to underline and acknowledge the fact that not everyone gets a chance to go every year, much less every 5 years. That said, every year brings in a chorus of fans who want more out of these events. The reality is, the events sell out every year. While fans may demand change, the market isn’t making those same demands.

ENTERTAINMENT (STAGE SHOW, FIREWORKS, PARADE & MORE)

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party contains some of the best entertainment you’ll find at Walt Disney World all year long! In fact, it’s not uncommon for us to spend most of our evening in and around Main Street USA, taking in the parade, fireworks, and Hocus Pocus-themed stage show.

HOCUS POCUS VILLAIN SPELLTACULAR

We’re starting with the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular simply because it’s our favorite entertainment at the party. Yes, the Boo-To-You parade song will be stuck in your head until Christmas, but the Hocus Pocus stage show in front of Cinderella Castle is a highlight every year.

Typically, the show is presented at 9:05pm, 10:35pm, and 12am for party dates in August and September. At some point, the sun sets early enough for an extra showtime at 7:35pm for select October dates. We’ll know more once Disney makes an official announcement.

MICKEY’S BOO-TO-YOU PARADE

Next up on our list is Mickey’s Boo-To-You Parade. This is another event staple, and a must-see whether you’re attending for your first or 50th time.

The Boo-To-You Parade happens a couple of times per evening. Back in 2024, Disney changed to a sunset time for the first showtime of the parade, allowing younger partygoers the opportunity to enjoy the parade before bedtime. This is a hit, but it also means larger crowds, as there is no night owl element to the 8:15pm start time. The second parade is typically presented at 11:15pm.

While the parade starts in Frontierland and makes its way down Main Street USA, you’ll have to be watching from Main Street USA if you want to check out the pre-parade Max and the Powerline Party Pack offering.

DISNEY’S NOT-SO-SPOOKY SPECTACULAR FIREWORKS SHOW

Rounding out the top-tier entertainment is the fireworks show. Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks show is a wonderful offering, but it is popular. What makes this show especially difficult when it comes to viewing is that not only are there projections on Cinderella Castle, but a larger-than-life Jack Skellington can also be seen on the forecourt stage during the show. That means that the best viewing is in the hub area directly in front of Cinderella Castle – a very popular option.

The fireworks show is usually presented at 10pm, and just once per night.

A Masquerade with Stitch (NEW for 2026)

As noted above, Stitch headlines a brand-new experience at Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland. Joined by Lilo and Angel, Stitch’s ever-changing costume theme swaps keep the show playfully unpredictable all night long.

OTHER ENTERTAINMENT

Guests can find other entertainment throughout Magic Kingdom in smaller settings. We’ll have more to share as details are announced. In recent years, Disney has been working to create a party environment in Storybook Circus, and we’d expect that to continue in 2026.

CHARACTER MEET & GREETS

Another big draw during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the character meet and greets. Guests will line up for an hour or more to meet with some of the most popular characters, including Jack Skellington & Sally, and Winnie the Pooh and friends. Here’s a breakdown of the character meet and greets that were offered in 2025:

Main Street USA

  • Minnie Mouse joins Mickey Mouse in Halloween Attire: Town Square Theater
  • Jack Skellington and Sally: Town Square Theater

Adventureland

  • Aladdin, Abu, Princess Jasmine, and Genie: Agrabah Marketplace
  • Captain Jack Sparrow: Caribbean Plaza

Frontierland

  • Shaker, Wendell, and Big Al: Roaming around Frontierland

Fantasyland

  • Alice, Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, Tweedle Dee, and Tweedle Dum: Outside the Mad Tea Party
  • Anastasia, Drizella, and Lady Tremaine: Fantasyland
  • Ariel and Eric: Near Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid
  • Belle: Enchanted Tales with Belle Queue
  • Gaston: Near Gaston’s Tavern
  • Mirabel and Bruno: Fairytale Gardens
  • Pluto: Entrance to Storybook Circus
  • Daisy and Goofy in Halloween Attire: Pete’s Silly Sideshow
  • Pooh as a Bumble Bee, Piglet as a Butterfly, Eeyore as a Clown, and Tigger as a Pirate: Pooh’s Thotful Spot

Tomorrowland

  • Stitch in his Rock ‘n’ Roll Costume: This will likely be replaced this year, given the other entertainment featuring Stitch

We’ll have a full list of confirmed character meet and greets as we get closer to opening night of the event.

TRICK OR TREATING AT MICKEY’S NOT-SO-SCARY HALLOWEEN PARTY

Who doesn’t love trick-or-treating?! Guests of all ages can enjoy “treat trails” throughout Magic Kingdom, filling up their bags with complimentary candy during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

What makes MNSSHP trick-or-treating especially fun is the hidden character opportunities baked into the treat trails. As we reported from recent years, Disney has been expanding its villain and character presence throughout the treat trails, placing characters like Maleficent and the Evil Queen inside Princess Fairytale Hall (“Princess Scarytale Hall”??), Romeo McGrowl in the Country Bear Musical Jamboree, and Donald Duck inside Mickey’s PhilharMagic. These surprise encounters often have minimal wait times compared to the traditional character meet-and-greet lines.

A few tips for trick-or-treating:

  • Disney provides bags, but having your own might make candy collecting easier.
  • Keep an eye on your party’s map for active candy station locations throughout the night.
  • Treat trails can be about more than candy! Character encounters along the way can be some of the most memorable moments of the evening.

FOOD & BEVERAGES

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party features a lineup of seasonal, event-exclusive food and beverages available for purchase throughout Magic Kingdom. Full menu details for 2026 have not yet been announced. Check back with BlogMickey.com for the complete 2026 MNSSHP Foodie Guide when it is released ahead of the August 7th opening night.

MERCHANDISE

Walt Disney World has already offered a first look at some of the 2026 event-exclusive merchandise. As we reported, the 2026 collection features a gray, black, and orange color palette with artwork of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and other frightful friends celebrating Halloween. We’ll have a look at all of the merchandise once the event starts!

TOP TIPS FOR MICKEY’S NOT-SO-SCARY HALLOWEEN PARTY

  • Make a plan! The fact that you’re reading this, or any guide for the event, is a great start. There is too much to do at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party to do it all in one night. Make a plan and time out your evening to feel like you got the most out of the event.
  • Check the party map. Pick up a MNSSHP map at the park entrance on the night of your visit. It contains the full schedule of shows, parade times, character locations, and candy stop locations for that evening. We’ll also upload the map on the first night of the event once we arrive.
  • Arrive at 4:00pm. Party ticket holders are admitted to Magic Kingdom three hours before the official 7:00pm start time. Use those early hours to ride popular attractions, or get in line for the biggest character meet and greet lines without cutting into official party time. We’ve often arrived at 3pm for the 4pm opening, met with Jack Skellington, and then shopped for exclusive merchandise, all before the 7pm start to the party.
  • Catch the 8:15pm parade first if you have young ones. The early Boo-To-You Parade showing is ideal for families with young children and frees up the later part of the evening for shows and meet-and-greets. Keep in mind that the crowds will be big for the early parade (and slightly smaller for the late parade), but if you aren’t sure you’ll make it to the 11:15pm parade, catch a Frontierland viewing of the early parade.
  • Prioritize entertainment. The exclusive entertainment is our favorite part of the event. Yes, you can run around and experience attractions with lower wait times, or meet with characters, but we’d recommend that you prioritize the entertainment such as the parade and Hocus Pocus stage show.
  • Candy lines can build early. In recent years, we’ve seen lines for candy get longer and longer. The lines will be shorter later in the evening, and Cast Members may offer an extra scoop as you get closer to midnight. Some treat trails have closed before 12am in the past, but most should be open late. Keep in mind that lines have looked long, but they usually aren’t more than a 5-10 minute wait, at most. That said, if you can wait, it might be best to save the trick-or-treating until later in the evening after you’ve accomplished some of your event goals.
  • Watch for villain surprises in the treat trails. As we have highlighted, the character encounters hidden within treat trail locations, like Princess “Scarytale” Hall, often have minimal wait times compared to traditional meet-and-greet lines. Some character meet-and-greets can take up huge chunks of your party time, so these interactions can be high ROI, comparatively. These are not-to-be-missed interactions for Disney fans.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. You will be on your feet for several hours, and the combination of walking, dancing, and standing for shows adds up quickly.
  • It will be busy. We’re a long way from 2019 when crowds were so low that Disney offered a $300 seasonal pass that granted guests access to most of the event nights. In fact, crowds have been bigger than ever in recent years. Beyond that, the high price of a ticket means that guests are staying later to squeeze every minute from the event. It will be busy.

MICKEY’S NOT-SO-SCARY HALLOWEEN PARTY TOURING PLAN

Here’s an example of how we would approach Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party to try and make the most of our evening. Use this as an outline of what’s possible, and adjust based on your priorities. This is our entertainment-heavy plan for this year’s event:

  • 3:00pm: Arrive at Magic Kingdom and wait at the main entrance for 4pm
  • 4:00pm: Head directly to the Jack Skellington meet and greet at Town Square Theater
  • 5:00pm: Check out exclusive event merchandise, ride rides, or get in line for another meet and greet, such as Winnie the Pooh & friends
  • 7:00pm: Party officially starts.
  • 7:30pm: Find a spot in Frontierland for Mickey’s Boo-To-You Parade, enjoy Cadaver Dans performance while you wait
  • 8:15pm: Mickey’s Boo-To-You Parade
  • 9:05pm: Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular (follow the end of Mickey’s Boo-To-You Parade from Frontierland to Cinderella Castle)
  • 10:00pm: Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular fireworks show (only one showing per night, hang out after Hocus Pocus stage show)
  • 10:30pm: Run around and enjoy other entertainment. There will be dance parties in Tomorrowland and Fantasyland that might be worth popping by to dance with a character or two. There is also the Rusty Cutlass Pirate Band near the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction that should have a set or two left after the fireworks conclude.
  • 11:20pm: We’re going to try and catch the second Boo To You Parade from Main Street USA, which should arrive some 10-15 minutes after it begins in Frontierland at 11:15pm
  • 12:00am: Party concludes with final performance of Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular at midnight

While that touring plan is entertainment-heavy, you can basically run around and do whatever you want following the conclusion of the fireworks show around 10:15pm. Even though we’d highly recommend the entertainment during the event, you might care more about rides and trick-or-treating, in which case the first couple of hours of your evening will look much differently than what we’ve outlined above.

Really, the point here goes back to our top tip for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party: have a plan. It’s an expensive night, and a little bit of homework ahead of time will help you make the most of the evening.

IS MNSSHP WORTH IT?

For families and Disney fans who love Halloween, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party delivers an experience that simply cannot be replicated during a regular park day. The exclusive entertainment, including the Boo-To-You Parade, Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, and Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, are all genuinely spectacular. The trick-or-treating, rare character meet-and-greets, and festive atmosphere make it a one-of-a-kind night at Magic Kingdom.

That said, the event does come with a real cost. At $119 to $229 per ticket, depending on the date, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party demands a larger and larger chunk of your Walt Disney World vacation budget. It is a substantial additional expense on top of regular park admission.

The sweet spot for most guests is an August or early September date, where ticket prices are lower, crowds are more manageable, and the exclusive entertainment lineup is still fully in place. For guests who want the full October Halloween atmosphere and do not mind the premium price, late October nights, despite being the busiest, deliver the most immersive seasonal experience.

As someone who enjoys the exclusive entertainment and festive atmosphere, I’ve already purchased my ticket for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year. That said, I know that I’m not going to get everything done in one night, and I’m a seasoned pro when it comes to this event. I would recommend going in with the same mindset. Enjoy the atmosphere, catch the wonderful live entertainment, battle the crowds, eat some candy, and enjoy Halloween at Magic Kingdom.

The bottom line: if the entertainment and exclusive offerings resonate with your group, MNSSHP is well worth attending. Book early, plan your night with intention, and you will leave with memories that last well past Halloween.
