Disney has installed new carved signage at the secondary entrance to Tropical Americas. This is the side path guests use when walking over from Asia, near Expedition Everest and the Finding Nemo theater. A weathered stone tablet reading “TROPICAL AMERICAS” now sits set into one of two columns marking that entrance. We stopped by Animal Kingdom recently for a closer look!
Tropical Americas Secondary Entrance Signage Set in Stone

The tablet is carved directly into the column’s faux stone surface. “TROPICAL AMERICAS” appears in a unique font, set inside a raised, framed border. Cracks run through the surrounding concrete and even the tablet signage itself. The column shows chipped, distressed edges. The look matches the ruins-style aesthetic Imagineers have used across Pueblo Esperanza, and it goes toward making the Tropical Americas land feel like a real, lived-in place. A second matching column stands nearby, still wrapped in scaffolding on multiple sides.
The carved signage is the newest step in a progression we’ve tracked at this same entrance since early August.
Story So Far
- Artisans were hand-sculpting the column’s rockwork at the start of August, with no paint or lettering applied yet
- Test paint swatches appeared on that same rockwork a week later, giving the first hint of the finished color scheme
How This Compares to Other Animal Kingdom Entrances
Most Animal Kingdom lands reserve this level of signage for one spot only, the bridge that connects the land to Discovery Island. Africa’s carved wooden doors and Asia’s wooden archway both sit at that primary crossing point. Signage like the one seen in the Tropical Americas secondary entrance above is somewhat unique.
Tropical Americas is breaking from that pattern. Over at the main entrance to the land, a green construction wall still carries a simple placard reading “Tropical Americas”. Behind the wall, roof trusses and steel framing for the land’s entrance buildings remain visible and under active construction.
