Slinky Dog Dash Running Again This Morning

The Toy Story Land coaster reopened this morning at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, ending three consecutive days offline. It’s currently posting a 40-minute wait during Early Entry. It’s a great sign to see the roller coaster back up and running ahead of the Labor Day holiday.

Disney has not issued a public statement on the closure. The company also hasn’t confirmed what repairs were made. That said, we did see one ride vehicle stranded out on the tracks during the downtime, and an electrical panel was open nearby.

A Three-Day Closure With No Official Explanation

The shutdown began on August 31st, when Slinky Dog Dash did not operate at any point during the day. As we reported when the closure stretched into a second day, the coaster remained down through September 1st as well. Cast Members couldn’t say when it might return, and Disney did not comment on a cause at any point.

Things escalated on September 2nd, when the closure stretched into a third day. During a visit to Hollywood Studios that day, we spotted a ride vehicle stranded on the tracks at the coaster’s second launch. It sat well short of where a vehicle would normally come to rest when the attraction was operating normally. Nearby, an electrical panel was open, exposing what appeared to be ride control and communication equipment.

Slinky Dog Dash is back online now, but it’s still unclear what caused the extended downtime.

What Guests Should Know Now

The closure knocked out one of Hollywood Studios’ most popular attractions for three full operating days. That’s a rare stretch for a ride that typically ranks among the busiest in Toy Story Land and the park as a whole. Lightning Lane availability for the coaster was also affected during the downtime.

Guests can plan their days around Slinky Dog Dash again. Wait times are likely to climb as word of the reopening spreads and the backlog of guests looking to ride heads over to Hollywood Studios. Checking the My Disney Experience app for the latest posted wait remains the best way to gauge current conditions before heading to Toy Story Land.
