What Is A Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Rain Check?

Another August Halloween party, and another soggy evening at Magic Kingdom. While the hope is always that you get to experience everything that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has to offer, there are some nights where multiple entertainment offerings are canceled or delayed due to poor weather conditions, and guests are not able to experience some offerings during the party.

While just about every party this year has had the threat of weather, we attended the first Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on August 12th and wanted to share what we learned about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party rain check options.

During the August 12th party, the first Boo-To-You Parade was canceled, the fireworks were delayed, and the popular Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular show was either shortened or canceled for every showtime of the evening. Furthermore, outdoor entertainment was either heavily modified or pulled due to rain and lightning in the area. Outdoor meet and greets were also impacted as were outdoor trick-or-treat locations. Finally, some outdoor attractions also experienced closures due to poor weather.

So, what does Disney offer if Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is significantly impacted by weather? In short, maybe something, maybe nothing, maybe something for you and not for others – it varies. Guests who feel like their evening was significantly impacted by weather (read: multiple show cancellations, parade cancellation, fireworks cancellation, etc) can head to Guest Relations to discuss their options.

We have seen the following recovery options for guests during a rained-out upcharge event:

    • Rain Check – With a rain check, guests picked a date that they wanted to return to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party to try again. You will pick a specific date and Disney will issue you a new ticket to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at no additional cost.
    • Day Ticket – Alternatively, if your vacation doesn’t allow you to visit another Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, Disney may offer you a single-day ticket to visit the theme parks
    • Refund – In our observation, this is the least likely of the options and only offered in the most unique of circumstances.

As with any Cast Member interaction, you should be polite and please realize that nobody can control the weather. Cast Members will work with you within the parameters of what they are told they can do by management.
