Walt Disney World has announced the next phases of work in the lengthy, ongoing refurbishment of Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The current refurbishment work began back in September 2024, and it’s currently scheduled to continue through late 2027. The next phase of work will include exterior refurbishment of the main tower. Here’s the latest.

Exterior Refurbishment Begins Soon at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Refurbishment work will occur in phases throughout select areas of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, including the atrium, Bay Lake Tower and the Main Tower.

Contemporary Resort Main Tower Refurbishment

The Main Tower will undergo exterior maintenance beginning March 23, 2026. This work may impact views from various locations throughout the resort and, at times, require alternate paths of travel. Guests may see or hear construction during daytime hours.

Skyway Bridge Closure

In addition to the start of exterior work, Disney World has also announced a closure for the Skyway Bridge connecting the main tower and the Bay Lake Tower. Starting March 30, and continuing through May 1, 2026, the Skyway Bridge connecting Bay Lake Tower and the Contemporary Main Tower will be closed Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. The bridge will reopen daily after 5pm and remain available evenings and weekends.

Guests may need to use alternate paths of travel at times and may see or hear construction activity while work is underway.

Elevator Landings at Bay Lake Tower

Starting in late March, exterior elevator landing repairs will take place at Bay Lake Tower. This work is expected to continue through late May.

Pool Refurbishments

Walt Disney World also offered an update for the ongoing pool refurbishments. Now through early May, the Bay Cove Pool, Cove Bar, water play area and whirlpool spa at Bay Lake Tower are temporarily closed for maintenance. The Main Pool, water play area and whirlpool spa at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will remain open for Guests to enjoy.
