Construction Complete for Fairy Godmother Meet & Greet at Magic Kingdom

Back in February, we reported that construction was coming at the Fairy Godmother meet and greet space within Magic Kingdom. The info was based on a Notice of Commencement permit that called for the installation of a 6-foot-high wall in the Sir Mickey’s gift shop. Now that work is complete. Here’s a closer look at what was done, and the similarity to another project that we just reported on.

Construction Complete at Fairy Godmother Meet & Greet

Late last year, Walt Disney World adjusted the packages for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique offering at Magic Kingdom. For those unfamiliar, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique offers magical makeovers for royalty-in-training ages 3 to 12. As part of the soft relaunch of the experience, Disney also announced that Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother may stop by to visit children.

In addition, the Disney PhotoPass Royal Portrait Studio that was located in a corner of the Sir Mickey’s gift shop has been transformed. Here’s a look at the before/current for the space. The new photo op is exclusive to little ones that just completed the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience. The Fairy Godmother appears here periodically throughout the day.

At the time, the space was blocked off with curtains. A Cast Member stands outside, only allowing guests who have completed the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience to enter.

On a recent visit to Magic Kingdom, we noticed that the curtains had been replaced by the 6-foot-high wall that was listed in the permit.

The installation of the wall suggests, to me, that this will be more of a permanent offering. I’m sure there is some fire code or something that prevents this from being a proper wall, otherwise I’m sure Disney would’ve blocked this area completely.

In terms of similarities to another recent project, we head over to EPCOT, where we just spotted a new wall installed for a limited-time Annual Passholder exclusive meet and greet. While the concept is the same (block the view of a meet and greet without installing a full wall), the EPCOT wall is far more temporary.
