Disney Resumes Shiny Panel Upgrades to Spaceship Earth at EPCOT

Walt Disney World has recently resumed work on upgrades to the panels on the exterior of Spaceship Earth at EPCOT. This is a resumption of work that began last August. If I had to guess, some 60-70% of the work has been completed, with the focus now on the rear section of the Project Tomorrow post-show building. Here’s a look at the latest work.

Shiny Spaceship Earth Panel Refresh Resumes

As you can see in our photos above and below, there is an extra shiny section of vertical panels on the exterior of the Spaceship Earth post-show building. These panels were recently replaced as a resumption of the project appears to be underway. The less-shiny panels appear to be dirty. It’s unclear if there is simply a cleaning going on, if there is a new finish applied to the current panels, or if there are new panels entirely.

In terms of progress, we’ve highlighted the panels that have already been refreshed in our Google Earth screenshot below. Anything between the two red lines has been refreshed already.

Spaceship Earth remains open to guests, and there is no visible work or impact taking place during the operating hours.
