Meet Scooter: The First-Ever Muppet Audio-Animatronics of His Kind

When guests step into the recording studio at G-Force Records, they will come face-to-face with the first-ever Audio-Animatronics figure of Scooter.

What makes this figure even more remarkable is the technology behind it. Walt Disney Imagineering used motion-capture technology of the actual Scooter Muppet to build and program the figure. By recording and tracking Scooter’s real-world performance, Imagineers were able to ensure the animatronic looks, moves, and emotes exactly as Scooter should, right down to the smallest details.

We’ve been covering the development of this attraction for some time. Back in October 2025, Disney first teased that Scooter would be the attraction’s first Muppet Audio-Animatronics figure, and hinted that he might not be the only one.

The Pre-Show Story: Can The Electric Mayhem Make It in Time?

The pre-show takes place inside G-Force Records, which has come under new Muppets management thanks to Scooter’s uncle, real estate tycoon J.P. Grosse, who also owns the Muppet Theatre. Guests arrive as VIP tour visitors and find themselves in the middle of a very familiar Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster crisis.

Through the recording studio glass, The Electric Mayhem can be seen rehearsing “Can You Picture That?” as they prepare for their biggest Hollywood concert ever. The problem? The band is completely absorbed in their jam session, and their increasingly restless fans are waiting.

That’s where Scooter comes in. In his capacity as band manager, Scooter, joined by a team of penguin audio engineers, is doing everything he can to convince The Electric Mayhem to stop playing and get across town to the venue. Whether he succeeds, of course, is what sets the whole ride into motion.

The L.I.M.O.

Once the pre-show wraps, guests head out to the alleyway just behind Studio C to board their ride vehicle. In true Muppets fashion, it’s not just any vehicle. Thanks to the newest technological advancements from Muppet Labs, guests will climb aboard the Lengthy Immediate Motion Object, or L.I.M.O., for their high-speed trip across Hollywood.

Background: How We Got Here

The transformation of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster from an Aerosmith-themed attraction to a Muppets experience has been a long time coming. The Aerosmith pre-show closed permanently in December 2025 to allow Imagineers to begin work on the new space. Since then, multiple set installation permits were filed as work progressed through early 2026.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is set to open on May 26, 2026 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

OUR TAKE: The fact that Imagineers used motion-capture technology to ensure that Scooter moves like an actual Muppet is pretty great. This is the type of detail that we’ve come to expect from Imagineering, and it’s great that they’re delivering.

Looking forward, I would bet that the Muppets still have a surprise or two up their sleeves, so we’re very excited to see Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets for ourselves soon!
