We’re back with another update on the Magic Kingdom ferryboat dock expansion project. Construction has now moved from the walkway out onto the water itself. A construction barge carrying a yellow excavator is anchored in the Seven Seas Lagoon at the project site. The green construction walls along the guest walkway have also grown considerably longer since our last check-in. Here’s a look at the arrival of the construction equipment.

A Barge and Excavator Move Into the Lagoon
Photos taken from the ground and from the monorail show a construction barge positioned in the Seven Seas Lagoon. It sits just off the walkway that guests use to reach the Magic Kingdom from the ferryboat launch. The barge holds an excavator, stacks of wooden cribbing, and a tall steel pile that appears already driven into the lagoon bed.
The equipment suggests crews are now doing work at the water’s edge. This likely ties to the new dock called for in the approved permit. It’s possible that the new dock will be to support the docking of additional watercraft along this stretch of walkway, but it’s unclear. It is rumored that the watercraft fleet will expand beyond just the new ferryboat. One thing the photos do make clear: work has shifted from land-based prep to construction actually taking place in the lagoon.
Construction Walls Now Stretch Much Farther
The green walls we first noted enclosing the south end of the project have grown substantially longer. They now run underneath the monorail beam near the walkway to Magic Kingdom’s main entrance. The walls pass directly beside the “Ferryboats” directional signage that guests follow to reach the boat dock. Railings and rope lines continue to funnel guest foot traffic past the enclosed construction zone. The walkway itself remains open and busy despite the expanded footprint.
This extended wall run lines up with the broader queue expansion described in the approved permit. That plan calls for the ferryboat queue area to wrap around a section currently planted with greenery, near the security perimeter. More on that later.
