Magic Kingdom Ferryboat Dock Expansion Project… Expands

Construction has reached a new phase at Magic Kingdom’s ferryboat dock. Green walls now enclose the south end of the dock expansion project along the Seven Seas Lagoon, just steps from the park’s entrance. This is the latest progress on a project that we’ve been tracking since the permitting stages.

Walls Enclose the South End of the Project

Green construction walls now stretch along the guest walkway on the Magic Kingdom side of the Seven Seas Lagoon. The walls sit directly next to the walkway guests use to reach the ferryboat loading platform, and railings and rope lines funnel foot traffic past the enclosed area.

Behind the walls, work is likely taking place along the walkway. No obvious signs of work are present beyond the arrival of the construction walls.

Connection to the Fourth Ferryboat

This phase of work follows the land clearing and floodplain compensation work we first spotted along the shoreline in June. That earlier work sat apart from the dock itself. It focused on a water management area required by the project’s permit. These new walls and the dock structure mark a different, more visible stage of construction. This time, the work sits along the walkway that guests use to get to the ferryboat.

Florida’s water management district approved the dock expansion project in March. The plans call for a new wooden dock for Cast Member use, along with a possible expansion of the ferryboat guest queue. We have tied the project to preparations for a fourth ferryboat, the Meg Gilbert Crofton. That vessel is currently under construction and expected to debut in 2027. We don’t yet know when the dock and queue work will wrap, though visible progress has picked up considerably since June.
