Every Scarezone, Show, and Street Experience Coming to Halloween Horror Nights 35

Universal Orlando Resort has revealed the scarezones, shows, and street experiences coming to Halloween Horror Nights 35. The event’s 35th anniversary theme, Infernal Carnival of Nightmares, extends well past its haunted house lineup. It spreads a decrepit carnival atmosphere across Universal Studios Florida’s streets and stages. Four scarezones, two shows, and two street experiences round out the non-house offerings for the milestone year.

FORTNITEMARES Scarezone

FORTNITEMARES anchors one of this year’s four scarezones. Guests can drop from the Battle Bus straight into the chaos, and Universal is billing the scarezone around a storm that keeps spreading new horrors as it moves through.

In FORTNIGHTMARES, guests are dropped directly into the middle of the action.

Downtown Clowntown

Downtown Clowntown reimagines a city street as clown territory, playing on the idea that a bad neighborhood becomes something far worse once its residents are murderous. Universal describes the zone’s boroughs as overrun by clownsfolk eager to tear guests apart. There’s the wrong side of town, and then there’s Clowntown.

Clowns have long been a reliable well for Halloween Horror Nights to draw from. This zone ties that tradition to the event’s larger Jack the Clown storyline for the 35th anniversary, even though it isn’t a direct extension of the Jack and Oddfellow haunted house. Joining the Clowntown is Art the Clown and the Killer Klowns From Outer Space.

Sideshow of Decay

Sideshow of Decay sends guests into a carnival junkyard where Cindy Caine has opened a portal to the past. Universal says that portal pulls decayed nightmares from previous years of Halloween Horror Nights back into the present. This scarezone should have some built-in nostalgia for longtime fans.

The junkyard setting fits neatly into the larger Infernal Carnival of Nightmares theme. A decaying carnival naturally explains why old horrors would be scattered and half-buried, ready to return.

The event’s marquee theme also gets its own dedicated scarezone, hosted by Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow themselves. Universal frames the zone as a sinister spectacle decades in the making. Guests are invited to step right up and see what horrors hide in every shadow.

As we noted when covering Halloween Horror Nights 35’s original concept haunted houses, Jack and Oddfellow already serve as ringmasters for the Infernal Carnival of Nightmares theme across the entire event. This scarezone extends their carnival out into the streets rather than confining it to a haunted house.

Nightmare Fuel: Blood Noir Stage Show

Nightmare Fuel returns for another year as Halloween Horror Nights’ marquee stage show, this time built around a vampire-ridden metropolis. Universal describes it as a dark musical journey where death-defying stunts lure guests deeper into temptation. That points toward the acrobatic style fans are used to. The vampire theming lines up with the after-dark, noir aesthetic used in the subtitle for this year’s show.

Nightmare Fuel has become one of the event’s more consistent draws in recent seasons. Blood Noir continues that run rather than replacing it with something new for the 35th anniversary.

Stranger Things: Return to Hawkins Lagoon Show

The event’s second show trades the stage for the Universal Studios lagoon, using it as a theater for a Stranger Things retrospective. Universal says the show will revisit five seasons of the series through a special in-universe WSQK broadcast. Some of its most memorable moments get projected across water screens and surrounding facades. Universal positions this less as a scary experience and more as a tribute, built to coincide with the franchise’s fifth and final season.

A nostalgia-driven clip show paired with the lagoon gives Universal a way to showcase Stranger Things this year as the popular franchise comes to a close. The franchise still headlines one of Halloween Horror Nights 35’s IP houses during the event.

Mel’s Die-In: Zombies

Guests visiting Mel’s Drive-In won’t be safe from the scares this year. Universal says zombie carhops have swarmed the classic diner. It’s a small-scale, localized experience compared to the full scarezones. Even so, it turns one of the park’s most recognizable dining locations into a scare opportunity of its own.

Street experiences like this one have become a fixture of recent Halloween Horror Nights lineups. They give Universal a way to add scares to high-traffic areas that don’t have room (or budget) for a full scarezone treatment.

Club Horror

Club Horror returns, transforming the streets of San Francisco into an undead nightclub, complete with a DJ who may be undead, but they keep the vibe fully alive. The concept leans into music and atmosphere over jump scares, giving guests a place to pause or dance a bit themselves.

Halloween Horror Nights 35 runs 48 select nights from August 28th through November 1st at Universal Studios Florida, marking the event’s 35th anniversary.
