Multi-Year Adventureland Permit
The notice of commencement, recorded this week, lists an address of 4851 Caribbean Way. That address resolves to the popcorn cart area near the entrance to the Jungle Cruise in Adventureland. The permit lists the scope of work only as “general construction.” That’s standard language on these filings, and it doesn’t tell us much on its own.
What stands out is the expiration date. Permits typically default to one year from the date of recording unless a different date is specified. This one extends that window by more than a year, expiring on August 31st, 2028. We saw a similar pattern in a permit for underwater work at the Jungle Cruise attraction itself. A permit with an end date that far out typically points to a larger scope of work than a routine repair. It doesn’t guarantee a lengthy closure or a guest-facing change, though.
Who Filed It, and What That Suggests
Walt Disney World Resort owns the permit, and Facility Asset Management filed it. FAM is the arm of the company that typically handles maintenance and infrastructure work rather than show scene changes or new theming work. That alone would usually point toward routine upkeep. We reached the same conclusion when Disney’s facility management team filed the underwater work permit for the Jungle Cruise ride track in 2024.
MLC Theming Inc is the contractor on this filing. The company does frequent work with Walt Disney Imagineering on themed finishes. Its presence on a permit is worth noting even when the permit itself is filed under FAM rather than WDI. That combination, a facilities filing paired with a theming contractor, leaves room for either a straightforward maintenance job or something with a more visible impact on theming once complete.
We reached out to Walt Disney World for comment on what the permit covers and have not received a response as of publish time.
If I had to guess, it’s possible that there could be some significant pathway work taking place. The entrance to the Jungle Cruise is about 10 steps below the rest of Adventureland. Disney can’t really bring the Jungle Cruise entrance up to grade with the rest of Adventureland, but there are some things that Disney can do to widen the pathway here. With Piston Peak National Park and Villains Land coming online in the next 3-5 years, I think it’s possible that Walt Disney World is looking to remove congested areas on this side of Magic Kingdom park.
