Rooms Gutted at Disney’s Contemporary Resort for Mid-Century Modern “Incredibles” Makeover

As we reported earlier, Disney has begun the process of renovating some of the rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort as part of a test to get the Incredibles intellectual property into the resort. Of course, at this point we don’t know how invasive the IP might be to the look and decor of the room, but we’re told that Disney is playing with the idea of a Mid-century Modern look.

We made it out to Disney’s Contemporary Resort recently to check in on the project and got a look inside the now-gutted rooms. As you can see in the photos below, the rooms are completely gutted down to the studs and electrical. This makeover doesn’t look to be a simple repainting and maybe a new picture hung in the room, but a complete reimagining of the space.

It’s worth noting again that this is a test. Disney often takes one or two rooms offline to create a test space once a project has made it past the concept phase.

No work was visible from the exterior of the building, but it is pretty easy to spot which rooms are being worked on. As a matter of fact, these Incredibles-themed rooms aren’t the only rooms under construction at the resort. As you can see below, there is another room under construction, hidden by a tan scrim. Checking up on that room from the inside, didn’t reveal any theming like we’ve seen from the Incredibles room, but it is clear that work is being done.

The Incredibles rooms don’t have as large of a scrim, but rather a simple construction barrier.
