New Projection Mapping to Replace Christmas Lighting on Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Paris During Castle Refurbishment

We’re back with an update to our rumor this morning that said Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Paris would not have the Christmas lighting package that it has had in years past due to the possibility of a 2-year refurbishment that would see some much needed work done to the castle.

In lieu of Christmas lighting, @ED92live on Twitter is reporting that there will be an all-new projection mapping element to the Mickey’s Magical Christmas Lights tree lighting ceremony. The projection mapping would start at the castle and work its way down Main Street USA, ending with the tree lighting ceremony in Town Square.

UPDATE: The official press release has been added below.

At nightfall, guests are in for a big surprise during the newly-adapted Christmas tree lighting ceremony, alongside Mickey, Minnie and Santa Claus. Together they will light up the spectacular 24 metre-tall tree in the middle of Main Street, U.S.A.

This year, during our Christmas season, the Sleeping Beauty Castle will be enhanced in a brand-new way, drawing even more attention and focus to the new animations in direct link with this year’s Mickey’s Magical Christmas Lights ceremony.

The Castle will be part of the new tree lighting ceremony. It will include mapping projection on the Castle, special lighting on Central Plaza and Main Street, U.S.A, and ending with the lighting of the tree on Town Square.

The Castle will also be enhanced with fountain moments and Christmas music during the day.
