A viral video has been making the rounds that shows a Disneyland Paris Cast Member breaking up a proposal in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at the theme park. Of course, while the video itself is jarring, there is more to the story than meets the eye.

The couple, as seen in the video below were standing on a performance stage that is off-limits to guests. While the original poster of the video claimed that they had permission to be on the stage, that would be inconsistent with safety protocols at the park.

Regardless, the video of a Cast Member swooping in to grab the ring out of the man’s hand and usher the couple off of the stage made for a viral moment. The Cast Member, who is popular among the Disneyland Paris faithful, was likely following the protocol given the fact that the stage is surrounded by pyrotechnic effects which may pose a danger to guests. In a video from March, a guest actually stomped out a fire that was caused by the pyrotechnics near this stage.

Either way, the optics were bad and Disneyland Paris has issued an apology (via Newsweek).
