Walt Disney World Will Submit Reopening Date Tomorrow

Disney has confirmed that they will be submitting a proposal to the Orange County Task Force tomorrow for a phased reopening of the resort’s theme parks. By order of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a reopening proposal must include a date for reopening. Jim MacPhee, Senior Vice President of Operations, will give the presentation.

Disney once again follows Universal Orlando during the COVID-19 pandemic, submitting their proposal a week after the competing theme park resort. As of publish time, it’s unknown what date Disney will include in their proposal.

Universal Orlando has already received approval from Governor DeSantis to begin a phased reopening, starting with two days of employee previews beginning June 1st, and culminating in a public opening on June 5th.

Disney is expected to not only give details on a reopening date, but also about what safety measures they’ll have in place when the parks reopen.
