Disney Park Pass System Not Allowing Annual Passholders to Book 3 Additional Days If They Already Have a Theme Park Reservation From a Resort Stay

With the Disney Park Pass theme park reservation system now live for Annual Passholders, we are getting multiple reports that Annual Passholders aren’t allowed to get their three reservation dates if they already have Disney Park Pass reservations through a resort stay. As of publish time, this seems to be a policy and not a glitch.

As seen in the screenshot below from the Disney World website, the second bullet point attempts to address this very issue. When this note was first put on the Disney World website, it was assumed that it was specifically talking about how many reservations a guests would qualify for, not necessarily that it would be limiting Annual Passholders to either the 3 reservations they qualify for on their pass or securing reservations for their resort stay.

Now with the Disney Park Pass reservation system live for Annual Passholders, we’re getting multiple reports from readers who are saying that they aren’t able to make their three Annual Pass selections because they have already made selections for a resort stay.

Again, the screenshot above is the best confirmation that we have that would suggest that this is a policy and not a glitch in the system. Disney would likely consider a single guest holding Annual Pass theme park reservations as well as reservations tied to a resort stay as “double dipping” on the system, and seems to not allow it.

We have received reports of guests either not being able to make any Annual Pass selections at all, or guests who have been able to make a single Annual Pass selection before being blocked out.

We want to hear from you! Are you experiencing the same thing where the Disney Park Pass reservation system isn’t letting you secure Annual Pass reservations and you already have resort reservations? Let us know in the comments below or on social media!

    1. Hello! I’m an out of state passholder and I was able to make 3 additional park pass reservations in addition to my resort stay that I already reserved park passes for.

    2. I was able to book 1 day this morning then had to go in and cancel 2 of my resort days to get the other three days.

    3. I have a resort reservation in November, so I made those (2) park reservations first. This morning, I was only permitted to make one reservation.

    4. I have two resort reservations for AUG (4 days) and OCT (5 days). Initially I had trouble making park reservations for the second resort stay in Oct. System was giving the same answer that doe snow (exceed allowed park reservations). After several attempts all of sudden it worked. Today, without resort reservation, I can not make any more park reservations! Getting the same message that I reached the allowed limit (!?)

    5. I’ve been told specifically by Disney if I want to book three Passholder days I have to remove my resort day park reservations. So people who have resorts for January can’t go for six months if they make those park reservations. But they’re no guaranteeing park entry as a resort guest without the reservation. It’s total crap and I’m over it.

    6. Same situation! I’ve reached my max error message.
My Annual Pass is worthless between now and December because I have a resort booking months from now with Park reservations.

    7. I am a Florida Resident Annual Passholder with monthly payments and because I have a resort stay in November that I booked park reservations for I am not able to get any other days between now and November that is 4 months that I cannot use my pass that I am paying over 130.00 each month for!!! That means that Disney is making over 500.00 off of me that I cannot use the passes. I was told that I could cancel my reservations for November and try again but there would be no guarantee that I could get a date because they may already be filled and if I cancel the November I could loose those dates too if they get filled before I could rebook them! It is really unfair that they continue to charge and will not at least extend the passes out the number of months that I cannot use them.

    8. Yes, we have experienced this and called into Disney IT tech support thinking it was a glitch just to be told that because our reservations in November are reserved, we cannot book the 3 days we feel we are entitled to without a hotel reservation attached. We live 15 mins from Disney, DVC and Premium Plus AP holders for over 20 years. I understand that Disney is doing the best they can with COVID but we have to look at the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent over the years and realize that we are not getting the best value for our investment. By the end of the week, for the first time ever, we are going to have to cancel our AP’s. If you take into consideration the amount of money paid for premium plus and look at what has to be taken away in 2020 due to COVID – again not placing all the fault on Disney – there is no value. photo’s, golf, waterparks, and being able to go every night to a park taken away is gone. Once we get COVID under control, i am sure we will be back but for now…ugh, i hate it so much but we must part ways with AP – I am so sad but we are not in the business of wasting money. Disney will run their business the way they want and lose people but we all know once this pandemic is over we will be back i bet. I am over it. We can do Universal until Disney gives us back our value.

    9. Your frustrations are valid we just all have to keep in mind this is an unprecedented time, and no matter how hard they try Disney is not gonna make everyone happy because their options are limited. I hope that this AP stuff gets resolved though because if I was paying monthly for that being useless as it will be for the next couple months I would be understandably frustrated.

    10. Our family have the same issue. We’re in the UK, and have a multi-site vacation in April (rebooked from last April): Just over a week off-property and then a 7 day resort stay. 4 of us have 14 day tickets, and 1 of us has purchased an annual pass (parking benefits etc). The annual passholder is limited to the 7 days even though that ticket is far more expensive than the Ultimate 14 day. We can’t get a refund on the AP because Disney have pulled regular ticket sales at the moment.

Interestingly, our experience is that the system does not care WHEN you use the days, just that the total is not greater than your resort stay. So we have had to gamble that there will still be available while we’re in the resort to ensure we can do some trips to the parks while we’re off-property. It’s all pretty disgusting really. It was bad enough when Disney had said “3 days PLUS the resort”, but now it’s “3 days OR the resort” it’s pointless having an annual pass.

Disney have really dropped the ball for their most loyal customers – guess they figure they’ll be forgiven by them, but when you’re coming from the UK, effectively we’re paying a very large amount of money to “gamble” on whether we can get additional days to the parks as a family.
