Disney World has added its first “Good-to-Go” date in May, choosing quite an interesting date to kick off the new month. According to the Annual Passholder calendar, Wednesday, May 1st will be a “Good-to-Go” date. To us, this is interesting because it’s the 35th Anniversary of Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney World has effectively relinquished control over Passholder attendance that day.
Of course, there isn’t too much planned for the anniversary. A quick celebration moment and placing anniversary merchandise behind a Virtual Queue probably doesn’t translate to an attendance crush, but we’d still bet on higher-than-average crowds in the park through lunchtime.
Here’s a look at the currently planned “Good-to-Go” days through early May:
- April 28
- April 30
- May 1
As a reminder, Good-to-Go Days are days when Annual Passholders will not be required to make a Disney Park Pass reservation to visit the Walt Disney World theme parks. On all other days, Passholders are required to make reservations if they wish to visit any theme park before 2pm, or Magic Kingdom on the weekends.
That said, we’re not fans of the Good-to-Go Days system, and think it’s quite pointless in its current implementation. It would be much better if Disney World was able to make something like 70-80% of days throughout the year “Good-to-Go” while requiring Park Pass reservations during the busiest few weeks of the year. Currently, roughly 25% of dates have been marked as “Good-to-Go” since the program launched in January.
